Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara Netanyahu arrived today (Thursday) to pay their respects to mourners at the family home of the late Shaldag fighter Major Moshe Yedidya Leiter, who was killed in battle in the Gaza Strip. This is Netanyahu's first visit to an IDF fallen soldier's home since the start of hostilities.

The family members told the Netanyahus about the late Moshe, who besides being a family man, father of 6 children and a loving husband, was a brave and courageous fighter. They also said that the late Moshe served his soldiers as a beacon of values and a personal example - always first to the task, always first to attack.

During the visit, Netanyahu shared with the family members his personal dealings with bereavement, after the death of his late brother Yoni.

Yechiel Leiter, father of the late Moshe, served as the Prime Minister's Chief of Staff when he held the position of Minister of Finance. He asked Netanyahu to go to the end, until a decisive victory over Hamas. Netanyahu swore to him that it would be so, and Hamas would be defeated with the help of the mighty spirit of the IDF soldiers and the citizens of Israel.

Yechiel also noted the amazing unity that prevails in the nation, saying that: "The IDF is not only the most moral army in the world in relation to the enemy - it is also the most moral army in the world in its relation to the soldiers and families."
