After the words of French President Emmanuel Macron caused a stir in Israel, when he said in an interview with the BBC network that "there is no justification" for the bombings, and that a ceasefire would "benefit Israel". Today (Sunday) the French President called President Isaac Herzog and said that he unequivocally supports the State of Israel and its right to self-defense.

President Macron made it clear that he does not and did not intend to attribute to Israel any blame for intentionally harming innocent civilians in the campaign it is conducting against the terrorist organization Hamas. President Macron also emphasized that he unequivocally supports Israel's right and duty to self-defense, and that his absolute support for Israel's war against Hamas is unambiguous.

The things that were attributed to him in the interview, as President Macron explained, dealt with the humanitarian issue that is important to him and to many countries. And went on to say that it is important to find and assist in humanitarian solutions for citizens in Gaza. President Macron reiterated to the President of the country his commitment to the urgent release of the abductees and stated that he is constantly engaged in this.

Herzog to Macron: "Your words caused a lot of pain in Israel"

The President of the State stated in the conversation that the words of the French President as reported over the weekend caused a lot of pain and anger in Israel and it is good that President Macron clarified his words last night and today in various publications and now in a conversation between them. The President of the State reiterated that the State of Israel and the IDF act in a humanitarian manner and according to international law and take various measures to prevent harm to uninvolved civilians as much as possible. The President of the State also emphasized that the full responsibility for harming innocent people in the Gaza Strip, many times in a very active way, rests with the terrorist organization Hamas.

The President of the country reiterated the enormous importance of the commitment of every relevant international entity to assist in the return of the abductees as a humanitarian mission of the highest order. The President of the country shared with President Macron that just before their conversation he had watched the horror documentary showing the barbaric acts committed by Hamas, and expressed his deep shock at the horrific sights and sounds.

Following this, Herzog recommended to the French President that all world leaders watch the documentary, in order to remember and remind who is the real enemy of Israel and the entire world, and who represents the absolute evil against which we must act with all our might, just as President Macron said when he compared the war against the human monsters from Hamas to the international coalition that fought against ISIS.
