The Binyamin Council lit 1400 candles at the site of ancient Shilo in memory of the Israelis murdered in the massacre that took place precisely a month ago.
Children, adults, and soldiers took part in the project, with the 1400 candles symbolizing the light of those murdered, forming a Star of David lighting up the darkness.
The Council described the effort thus: “30 days after the attack on the State of Israel, when over 1400 Israelis were murder, we have gathered here in ancient Shilo, in the place where the Tabernacle stood, and lit 1400 candles in memory of the fallen. Every person we lost is a light who is greatly missed. Our heart pains. But we do not lose hope, we will continue to light this world with goodness. We will be together and we will win together. Just as the People of Israel always won. Am Yisrael Chai.”
The project was filmed, edited, and produced online to the sound of the song “even in the dark hours of the night, there will always be a small star that shows you light” of singer Yagel Oshri, to provide hope and national resilience.
