Terrorism - Severity of Punishment

The General Emphasized: An Increase of the Severity of the Punishment for Offenses Related to Supporting Terrorism

Following the massacre in the South on October 7, the commander of the Central Command issued an order to increase the severity of punishment for offenses related to incitement to terrorism and support for terrorist organizations, including Hamas, ISIS, or Islamic Jihad.

The commander of the Central Command issued an order today (Tuesday) to increase the severity of punishment for offenses related to incitement to terrorism and support for terrorist organizations, including Hamas, ISIS, or Islamic Jihad, in light of the noticeable rise in Arabs who are identified with and support terrorism.

In the wake of the deadly events that occurred on October 7, 2023, and the ongoing war in which Israel finds itself today, based on updated intelligence assessments and legal recommendations, the commander of the Central Command has decided that support for terrorist organizations, as well as support for the terrorist organization ISIS, will incur stricter minimum penalties. The order specifies that there will be a stricter minimum penalty for offenses related to incitement or support for terrorist organizations.

It's worth mentioning that earlier this week, the Israeli police and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) arrested three Arab Israeli citizens from the towns of Sakhnin and Arraba in the Galilee region. They are suspected of having affiliations with ISIS and were arrested on suspicion of planning security-related activities amidst the ongoing conflict. According to the police statement, the court extended their detention until November 5th.

A similar incident occurred yesterday (Monday) after Jerusalem district police officers found a gun, a flag of a terrorist organization, and a swastika symbol in the home of a resident of At-Tur. This was following an incident in which he threatened another civilian who had attached an Israeli flag to his car.
