IDF Spokesperson Brig.-Gen. Daniel Hagari delivered a message to the media this evening (Sunday) addressing all the fronts where Israel was fighting.
He began by addressing events in the Gaza Strip, saying “the ground activity in the area of the Gaza Strip is continuing and intensifying, tactical level commanders were eliminated, we are continuing massive strikes from the air in support of the ground forces and the destruction of terror targets. The ground action is complex and includes dangers.”
“We proved Hamas makes cynical use of civilians. The population of Gaza talks about how Sinwar doesn’t care. Sinwar brought disaster on them. We will pursue Sinwar until we get to him.”
IDF Spox: 239 Hostages, 40 Still Missing
Hagari addressed the northern front, saying “in the north during the day a number of launches were carried out towards Israel. We attacked three terrorist squads who fired towards IDF forces. We killed terrorists on the fence. The IDF responded towards the origin of the fire towards Kiryat Shemonah. Every attempt to fire and every offensive action against us will encounter a crushing attack.”
The Spokesperson addressed the captives and missing, updating that “messages were delivered to the families of 239 hostages, including not a few foreign workers. The number of missing stands at 40. We continue enormous efforts to gather information.”
As to a reporter’s question of whether the ground entry is more moderate due to pressure on Hamas to free hostages, he answered that “we are for a very clear reason not detailing where our forces are, the security of our forces and creating uncertainty for Hamas in order to kill more Hamas activists and Hamas commanders. And I have to say that it’s working in the last 24 hours. We will not provide the location of our forces in the media, the safety of the forces is before anything. We are in a significant offensive in Gaza.”
