In the latest development of the Eilat kindergarten scandal, the State Attorney's Office has today (Thursday) filed an indictment against 5 assistants from Ilana Kober's kindergarten in Eilat for violations of duty and failure to report.
The assistants are accused of witnessing over 160 instances of assault, abuse, and harm to minors, and failing to prevent the abuse or report it. They are also accused of breaching their duty to report crimes committed against minors by the person responsible for their care.
According to the indictment filed by Attorney Renana Levy from the Southern District Prosecutor’s Office, the accused assistants, Ruth Raphael, Reut Kober, and Marcel Guetta, worked as assistants in the Eilat kindergarten for several years and were present daily. The accused, Adi Kablov, worked at the kindergarten for about a year, and the accused, Eti Kober, the daughter-in-law of the kindergarten owner Ilana, assisted at the kindergarten for a short period.
As previously reported, Ilana Kober, the kindergarten owner, was recently convicted after admitting, as part of a plea deal, to approximately 360 cases of physical and emotional abuse of minors. Kober physically abused 23 out of the 26 children in the kindergarten, and all the children were exposed to relentless violence from her.
According to the indictment, Ilana Kober admitted to attacking the toddlers, pinching them, hitting them with her hands, kicking them, throwing children onto the floor and chairs, force-feeding toddlers, and changing diapers forcibly, among many other incidents. In every case, the attacked toddlers and infants cried.
