Toronto police are appealing for assistance in locating a suspect who allegedly assaulted a woman outside a Jewish daycare earlier this week.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, around 4:30 p.m. at the Chabad of Midtown daycare near Bathurst Street and St. Clair Avenue West. According to police, the woman was picking up her child when a man approached and physically attacked her before fleeing on foot.
The victim sustained minor injuries, and police confirmed that she did not know the suspect.
Authorities have described the suspect as a man between 30 and 35 years old, approximately 175 lbs., with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black puffer jacket, burgundy pants with a white drawstring, and carrying a blue plastic bag.
This attack follows other recent incidents targeting Toronto’s Jewish community. In October, gunfire struck a Jewish school on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. Earlier in May, the same school was the target of another shooting, though no injuries were reported in either case.
Police are urging anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to come forward.
