Former President of Lebanon's Jewish Community Dies at 80

Former President of Lebanon's small Jewish community, Isaac Arazi, died today. He was a driving force in trying to renovate the Magen Avraham synagogue in central Beirut, one of the most elaborate in the Arab world.

Isaac Arazi, former head of the small Lebanese Jewish community and a driving force in the renovation of the Magen Avraham synagogue in Central Beirut, died yesterday (Tuesday), according to Lebanese news portal Naharnet.

The synagogue was renovated thanks to money raised by Arazi and thanks to financing provided by others such as the Solidere SAL civil engineering company owned by the politically powerful Hariri family.
