The Thai police issued a hot alert this morning (Tuesday) regarding the intention of Islamist elements to harm Israelis in the coming days in the area of the famous Full Moon Party in Koh Phangan.

The concern is about a terrorist attack in the designated area on November 15 by an Islamist group that is organizing to target Israelis as well as institutions associated with Jews in Koh Phangan, such as the Chabad House and the school where many Israeli children study.

Security agencies in Israel have been aware of the warning regarding a planned attack on Israelis since last July, and a security official confirms that the matter is being handled at all levels, with an announcement expected to be made soon to the over 10,000 Israelis residing in the country.

It should be noted that in recent days there has been extensive police activity on the island in the south of the country due to the alert, and the police have set up checkpoints.

A security official responded to "Srugim" that "the issue is known and is being handled by all relevant authorities."

As a reminder, about three weeks ago, the National Security Headquarters issued a serious warning calling on Israelis to immediately leave the Arugam Bay area and the beaches in the south and west of Sri Lanka due to updated information regarding a terror threat focused on tourist areas and beaches.

The National Security Council called on Israelis staying in Sri Lanka to take precautions, including avoiding the display of Israeli identity markers in public spaces, such as refraining from wearing shirts with Hebrew writing or symbols that reveal origin and religion, as well as avoiding gatherings of Israelis in public spaces at sites without security.
