Did Kahanism Kill Thousands of Jews on October 7 — or Was It Hamas Under Ronen Bar’s Watch?
While Israel’s security chief was busy spying on Jewish ministers and warning of “Kahanist infiltration,” Hamas was preparing a massacre. Now, even kibbutz residents are asking: who’s the real threat to Israeli democracy?

Recently, it was revealed that Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar spied on National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir — all while warning about the so-called "infiltration of Kahanism" into the Israeli police. One must ask: why was he surveilling Jewish politicians rather than Hamas operatives? Perhaps if his agency’s resources had been directed first and foremost against Israel’s enemies — not against Jews — thousands of kibbutz members might still be alive today. Today, even the residents of Nir Oz understand: Ronen Bar is far more dangerous than Rabbi Meir Kahane or any of his ideological heirs.
What truly threatens the safety of Israeli citizens — Donald Trump’s transfer-minded “Kahanism,” or the ritualistic “Oslo-ism” of Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar?
From what I know, the Shin Bet and Israeli police — those same institutions that Ronen Bar and his supporters insist are dangerously influenced by “Kahanist” thinking, and which President Trump supposedly aligns with by wanting to remove Gazans — have utterly failed to confront Hamas. So perhaps, just perhaps, it’s time to let those “Kahanists” have a go?
The Shin Bet is turning itself into a political police force. It has no authority to monitor or override police operations. That is simply beyond its jurisdiction. But on the other hand, this is also the direct consequence of Itamar Ben Gvir’s weakness. At no point did he truly subordinate the organization to his authority. That is the price of limited power — or perhaps, the limits of his will.
So the question remains: Where was Ronen Bar’s Shin Bet on October 7? Where was he during the Arab riots of Operation Guardian of the Walls? Did he respond? Did he warn? Or were the real defenders, once again, those same "hilltop youth" the media loves to hate — the ones who mobilized to stop the massacre?
The truth is that Ronen Bar is a fraud. Detached from reality, he has manipulated the ignorance of the so-called “democratic public” to turn himself into a hollow icon, despite being — quite frankly — not a particularly intelligent man.
He plays the victim in cabinet meetings, attempting to deflect blame onto the chairman of Otzma Yehudit. But it won’t work. His behavior — desperate, disgraceful, almost pathological — is the dying gasp of a failing worldview. It is the cult of “conflict management.” It is the Oslo mindset which clings to life by sacrificing blood on the altar of a fake peace.
Yes, Netanyahu — as a center-left figure — shared that ideology for many years. But turning Ronen Bar into the face of “Israeli democracy”? That’s not democracy..
And the only one in the coalition willing to slam on the brakes right now is Itamar Ben Gvir. While I wasn’t pleased by his return to government without a fully formed transfer plan, the targeted political witch hunt against him reveals just how desperate “they” have become.
And their desperation is our victory.
