Hollow Truce: Israel Must Annihilate Hamas Now

The current ceasefire pact with Hamas, is in fact a misguided act of appeasement, which will only embolden a terrorist organization. The release of hostages is a welcome development but the idea that this tenuous truce is a path to real peace is a dangerous delusion. The only answer to the Hamas problem is a ground war to destroy their infrastructure and root out their fanatical, barbaric leadership.

Hamas has shown repeatedly that it is unwilling to abide by agreements, has no fundamental interest in peace and remains committed to the destruction of Israel. Their recent claims regarding the Israeli breaches of the truce are simply a smokescreen for their actual aims. They use ceasefires to rearm, regroup, and plan their next attack. To think otherwise is to ignore what history shows us. 

The government’s current ceasefire deal, with its staggered release of hostages in return for Palestinian prisoners, is fundamentally a rotten deal. It rewards terrorism and encourages more hostage-taking. Israel should never negotiate with terrorists, much less make concessions to them. This deal sends a terrible message to Hamas and other terrorist organizations that their tactics pay off.

The idea that Hamas is a peace partner is a mirage. Its charter explicitly calls for the obliteration of Israel and the creation of an Islamic state in its place. They are a radical Islamist group that does not recognize Israel's right to exist. Any diplomatic effort to engage directly with them will never succeed. 

Let's take a look at the Hamas charter to understand exactly what this terrorist organization stands for:

Building an Islamic State:

 Hamas aims to build an independent Islamic state on the ruins of the State of Israel.

Armed Resistance: 

Hamas sees armed resistance against Israel as the core means to further its objectives.

The Non Acceptance of the Existence of Israel:

Hamas denies the State of Israel and rejects any peace agreements that imply recognition.

Islamic Rule: 

Hamas aims to establish Islamic law (Sharia) as the guiding principle in the Palestinian territories.

Liberation of Palestine: 

Hamas seeks to "liberate" all of Palestine, as defined by them, the land that lies between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.

Opposition to Secularism:

Hamas rejects secularism and Western culture in Palestinian society.

Antisemitism: 

There are references to conspiracy theories about Jewish people.

Undermining International Support for Israel: 

Hamas aims to isolate Israel internationally via boycotts, sanctions, and diplomatic pressure.

No to Negotiation: 

Hamas rejects negotiations with Israel and considers them as futile.

This is what we are forced to deal with when it comes to Hamas. If any other country in the world was faced with such a threat to their very existence on their doorstep, they would not think twice before eliminating this threat. Israel can ill afford to wait for the next inevitable attack. A ground operation is also needed to destroy Hamas’s terror infrastructure once and for all, take out its leadership, and restore deterrence. This will certainly entail civilian casualties, but the cost of inaction is much higher. Hamas has no regard for the lives of their people, evidenced by their placement of innocent Gazans as human shields throughout the conflict to date. Winning decisively against Hamas is critical to ensure Israel’s long-term security and avoid further bloodshed.

Hamas is a terrorist organization and the international community cannot afford to turn a blind eye to that reality — the leadership in Gaza poses a risk to regional and global stability. Appeasement will only embolden them and keep the wheel of violence turning. The world must now stand with Israel and defend its right to defend itself against terrorism.

The age of half-measures is over. Bumbling Biden has shuffled off into the sunset. There is a new sheriff in town and his name is Trump, who accepts that Hamas is a terrorist organization and needs to be removed from the Middle East equation. Trump wholeheartedly accepts that Israel must now destroy the threat once and for all. Only then will there be a hope for long-term peace in the region and further expansion of Trump's groundbreaking Abraham Peace Accords with other Arab neighbors in the region.
