A new survey by the "Abraham Initiatives" organization examined the changes in Jewish-Arab relations. Against the backdrop of the war, it reveals a severe trust crisis. Grim results reveal that only 7.5% of Arabs in Israel feel positively towards Jews.
According to the survey data, nearly two-thirds of the Arab respondents (65.7%) feel that the Jewish society's attitude towards the Arab society is negative, about a quarter say the attitude is neutral (25.7%), and only 7.5% think the attitude is positive. 73% of the Jewish respondents reported that they believe the attitude towards the Arab society is negative, 21% feel it is neutral, and only 4.9% described the attitude towards Arabs as positive.
The survey also examined the perceptions of Jews and Arabs regarding equality of opportunity in employment, education, and health. According to the findings, 85% of Arab citizens of Israel believe that there is a gap in equality of opportunity. In the Jewish society, 62% hold the same view. The survey also reveals that nearly half of Arab citizens of Israel (46%) feel that there has been a decline in public support for the idea of equality between Jews and Arabs since the establishment of the current government. 35% of Jewish citizens of Israel also feel this way.
Regarding the issues that concern Arab citizens, 70% rated the issue of violence and crime as the most concerning, followed by racism towards Arabs, housing and land distress, and the field of education in that order.
56% of Arabs support the participation of Arab parties in the coalition.
Regarding political participation, 56% of Arab citizens of Israel support the participation of Arab parties in the coalition. 11% of the respondents reported that they would support joining the coalition if it would lead to the establishment of a coalition with their preferred camp. 12% would support it if the joining would advance Arab society, and 33% support it because they believe the government should represent all parts of society. In the Jewish public, the situation is reversed, with 55% opposing the inclusion of an Arab party (any party) in the coalition. 29% believe that such a coalition partnership should be pursued.
From Abraham Initiatives: "The challenges of Arab society, foremost among them the record-breaking crime, require the government to act systematically to combat racism against Arabs and improve relations between communities." The survey was conducted by WBN using iPanel for the Abraham Initiatives Association among a representative sample of 720 respondents, both Arabs and Jews.
