Opinion: At long last, the Mossad is back in business

From the ashes of October 7th, Israel rises as a phoenix of vengeance and precision. In just six hours, the Jewish state reminds the world: Underestimate us at your peril.

For six hours yesterday, between eight in the evening and two in the morning, Israel returned to what it once was: a state with superpowers. The country demonstrated breathtaking intelligence, execution capabilities that surpass Hollywood action movies, a long and diverse arm capable of operating anywhere on the globe without exposure, and endless creativity.

This display of prowess comes as a stark contrast to the shadows that have loomed since October 7, 2023. On that black day, Hamas's brutal attack exposed glaring weaknesses in Israel's vaunted intelligence apparatus, leaving the nation reeling and questioning its most trusted institutions.

But yesterday, those questions were silenced. The successful assassinations in Beirut and Tehran showcased Israel's advanced capabilities, wiping away months of doubt and recrimination. These operations, attributed to the combined efforts of the IDF, Military Intelligence, and Mossad, exemplify the nation's resurgent military prowess.

This is the Israel we have missed: a technological superpower - precise, professional, and cool-headed. A superpower of Unit 8200, of the start-up nation, of the world's best air force, of the legendary Mossad, capable of performing any mission, no matter how challenging.

The journey from the depths of October 7 to yesterday's heights has been nothing short of remarkable. Where once there was neglect - a crucial alert system left unmaintained, warnings unheeded - now there is vigilance. Where complacency once reigned - with intelligence chiefs boasting of near-perfect performance - now there is a steely determination to never again be caught off guard.

In those six hours, Israel reminded the world, and perhaps itself, of its true capabilities. The nation that once brought us the raid on Entebbe, the destruction of Iraq's nuclear reactor, and countless other feats of intelligence and military skill, has reemerged.

This is not just a return to form; it's a statement of intent. To its enemies, Israel has sent a clear message: underestimate us at your peril. To its allies, it has reaffirmed its position as a key player in global intelligence and counterterrorism efforts.

Israel's intelligence community is back, more formidable than ever. From the ashes of October 7, a phoenix has risen - wings spread, eyes sharp, ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead.

Welcome back, indeed.
