Netanyahu exactly one year ago: "Hamas is completely deterred"

Exactly one year ago, Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke out after Operation Shield and Arrow and said: "Hamas is deterred, they don't dare to fire even one rocket."

It's been well documented that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, apparently along with the entire security establishment, believed that Hamas was deterred but seeing it in print at a time that we are in the middle of a bloody war in Gaza is like getting punched in the stomach all over again.

Exactly one year ago, Netanyahu spoke at the end of Operation Shield Arrow and said: "We changed the equation just like we did against Hamas two years ago in Operation Guardian of the Walls. How many rockets did Hamas fire at us? As far as I understand, zero. Because they are deterred."

Netanyahu also added: "In other words, Operation Guardian of the Walls destroyed Hamas' capabilities and severely damaged it - it changed the equation. We did it out of a state of apparent calm. It was a surprise attack that eliminated their top brass. Our statement was not only to the Islamic Jihad but to Hamas. They understood the meaning of: "Your fate has been sealed."

Surfers did not remain indifferent in lieu of Netanyahu's botched understanding that Hamas was "deterred." One viewer wrote: "Of course they didn't fire missiles. If only they had time for that. They were busy planning the biggest attack on Jews since the Holocaust."
