Fighting resumes in Gaza: IDF Strikes Dozens of Targets, Hamas Reports 230 Killed
After Hamas rejected mediation proposals and refused to release hostages, Israel resumed airstrikes in Gaza under government orders. The IDF is conducting extensive aerial attacks, while Hamas threatens retaliation. The White House: "Terrorists will pay the price."

The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has collapsed after nearly two months, leading to a significant escalation in the region. by 02:00 AM Israel time, the Israeli Air Force conducted extensive airstrikes across the Gaza Strip, targeting numerous Hamas positions. According to Hamas, these strikes resulted in over 230 fatalities, including several senior figures within the terrorist organization.
The decision to resume military operations was prompted by Hamas's repeated refusals to release Israeli hostages and its ongoing rearmament efforts during the ceasefire period. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz authorized the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to act decisively against Hamas. The Prime Minister's Office stated that the airstrikes aim to achieve the war's objectives, including the release of all hostages, both alive and deceased. The statement emphasized that Israel will now operate with increasing military intensity against Hamas.
In response to the renewed hostilities, the IDF has heightened its readiness across all fronts, deploying forces along the borders and reinforcing air defense systems. The Chief of General Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, is overseeing the operations from the IDF's command center in Tel Aviv. The military has refrained from providing further operational details to maintain the element of surprise and operational security.
The escalation has also affected civilian life in Israel. The Home Front Command has adjusted its safety guidelines, leading to the cancellation of educational activities in areas adjacent to the Gaza Strip. Residents in these regions are advised to stay updated through official channels for further instructions.
Internationally, the United States has been informed of the situation. White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt conveyed that President Donald Trump has been briefed on the developments. Leavitt reiterated the administration's stance that terrorist organizations targeting Israel or the U.S. will face severe consequences, underscoring America's unwavering support for its ally, Israel.
Hamas has condemned the Israeli airstrikes, accusing Israel of targeting defenseless civilians in Gaza. The terror organization holds Prime Minister Netanyahu and his government fully responsible for the consequences of what it describes as treacherous aggression. Hamas has called on international bodies, including the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the United Nations, to intervene and pressure Israel to cease its military actions.
The Israeli offensive in Gaza comes just a day after a massive U.S. military campaign in Yemen, which is expected to continue, alongside American threats against the Houthis. Reports surfaced late last night indicating that Hamas had been planning a preemptive attack on Israel, including an incursion similar to the events of October 7.
