Voluntary Transfer?
Cabinet expected to approve administration for "voluntary relocation" of Gazans
Defense Minister Katz announced the formation of an administration to assist the voluntary relocation of Gazans from the Gaza Strip following President Donald Trump's idea of moving the whole population elsewhere.

Defense Minister Israel Katz's administration, established to assist the "voluntary relocation" of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to other countries, is set to be approved by the political-security cabinet, according to i24 reporter Amichai Stein.
According to Stein, the administration will include representatives from government ministries, the IDF, Shin Bet, COGAT, and Israel Police. The administration will also coordinate its activities with international organizations and other entities.
According to its own definition, the administration being established "will work to enable controlled passage of Palestinians in Israel for their departure to third countries, security and escort of Palestinians during their movement, establishment of a pedestrian movement and inspection route at designated Gaza Strip crossings, and providing infrastructure that will enable passage by land, sea, and air to destination countries."
Until now, Israel has allowed Palestinians to leave the Gaza Strip to third countries for medical treatment for humanitarian reasons. Now, the goal is to allow Palestinians to leave in much higher numbers.
An Israeli official clarified that: "The administration will be subject to the provisions of international law; this is about voluntary departure."
The administration and its arrangements to help interested Palestinians to relocate from the Gaza Strip was established following President Donald Trump's announcement of a plan to relocate all 2.4 million Gazans from the Strip to other countries "permanently."
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz expressed open support for the plan - on the clear conditions that the relocation will only involve those voluntarily willing to locate rather than being forced to move, and that they can return if they wish.
Otzmah Yehudit leader Itamar Ben Gvir, now not presently in the government, proposed a more radical idea: a law which would provide state support for any non-terrorism affiliated Palestinian wishing to leave the Strip, which would penalize them if they sought to return home.
