A breakthrough agreement has been reached to resolve the crisis surrounding the non-release of 602 terrorists, according to reports. The deal, facilitated through Egyptian mediation, paves the way for the release of these prisoners, alongside an exchange involving 4 bodies of hostages.

The agreement, reportedly finalized through intensive diplomatic efforts, entails:

A senior Israeli official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed:

"Egyptian mediation has succeeded—unless there are last-minute changes, the hostages’ bodies will be released overnight without a ceremony, while the prisoners will be gradually freed from Israeli prisons.”

Egypt has played a central role in brokering the agreement, leveraging its longstanding diplomatic ties with both Israel and Palestinian factions. Egyptian officials have been engaged in behind-the-scenes negotiations to prevent further escalation and ensure the fulfillment of previous commitments.

This agreement marks a significant development in the ongoing tensions between Israel and Hamas surrounding the hostage deal. While the gradual release of prisoners may help ease frictions, the exchange of hostages’ bodies remains a sensitive and emotionally charged issue.

Despite the deal, concerns remain regarding security risks associated with releasing convicted terrorists and the potential impact on future negotiations. Additionally, last-minute changes or disruptions could still affect the implementation of the agreement.

With the deal expected to be executed overnight, the coming hours will be crucial in determining whether both parties adhere to the agreement.

Meanwhile, the visit of Steve Witkoff, U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoy to the Middle East, which was scheduled to begin tomorrow in the region, has been postponed by a few days. However, American officials clarify that the visit was never officially scheduled in the first place.

It is worth noting that Witkoff stated two days ago in interviews with American media that he would arrive in the region this week, likely on Wednesday, leading many to assume he would visit Israel—but this is not certain to happen at all. Israeli officials also pointed out that at no stage did Witkoff formally announce his visit, despite his statements to the press.

The mere fact that he is not arriving at this time could have been seen as a reflection of the crisis in negotiations—however, for now, Witkoff remains in the United States, where he is holding discussions with Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, who has replaced Mossad chief Dedi Barnea as head of the new negotiation team.
