Ilhan Omar's conspiracy theory, Trump to turn Gaza into "Resort for Billionaires"

In an interview with progressive journalist Mehdi Hasan, Omar claimed that Trump plans to turn Gaza into a "resort for himself and his billionaires," an accusation so absurd it borders on conspiracy theory.

Omar sarcastically referred to Trump as the "anti-imperialist president," accusing him of seeking to “kick all the Palestinians out of Gaza" for his own financial gain. She further claimed, “the irony of Trump being elected to be the anti-imperialist president” and suggested the American people were blind to his alleged ambitions. The comments followed a meeting between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which Trump suggested the U.S. could help develop Gaza into "the Riviera of the Middle East."

Rep. Omar’s comments only escalated from there. She lashed out at Arab nations, accusing them of “cowardice” for failing to stand up for the “destruction of the Palestinian people.” Her remarks were meant to stoke divisiveness, as she depicted the region’s leadership as complicit in the alleged injustice against Palestinians.

Omar’s views on Israel have long been controversial. Since her election to Congress in 2018, she has labeled Israel’s actions as "ethnic cleansing" and claimed that the country operates an "apartheid" government in Judea and Samaria. She’s a vocal supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, an initiative aimed at isolating Israel globally. In the same interview, she ominously warned that Democratic support for Israel would continue "until there is a price to pay and that price is felt."

Omar’s dangerous rhetoric continues to fuel division and anger, and now, there’s a GOP-backed petition calling for her deportation, asking that the congresswoman’s toxic, anti-Semitic views be held accountable. It’s clear that Rep. Omar’s statements don’t just cross the line; they encourage hostility and division, making her a deeply concerning figure in the American political landscape.
