A summit is set to take place today (Sunday) in Paris, where Mossad Chief, Dadi Barnea, CIA Director William Burns, Egyptian Intelligence Director Abbas Kamel, and Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Thani will participate. In the meeting, the four are expected to discuss the details of the emerging deal between Israel and Hamas.
According to reports from The New York Times, Israel will pause hostilities in the Gaza Strip for two months in exchange for the release of 100 hostages. This deal is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks. While there are still points of contention that need resolution, those involved in the negotiations are cautiously optimistic that a final agreement is within reach.
The Wall Street Journal provided additional details of the agreement. According to their sources, the proposal calls for an initial six-week ceasefire to allow for the release of children, women, and elderly individuals in need of urgent medical care. In return, Israel will release a specified number of non-revoked Palestinian prisoners and increase aid to Gaza. After the release of these individuals, Hamas will initiate the release of captured soldiers. Following that, Hamas will release additional soldiers and bodies of those who were captured.
According to The Wall Street Journal's report, in exchange for all these actions, Hamas will receive international guarantees, including from the United States. During the temporary ceasefire, an overall agreement leading to a permanent end to the conflict is anticipated.
