Due to the sanctions imposed on MK Aida Touma-Suleiman due to a false tweet about the IDF's operations in Gaza, the Knesset member attacked the Ethics Committee
And so she began, "The ethics committee's decision is not only my silencing. It is the silencing of an entire public that I represent and the silencing of anyone who dares to raise a voice that is not in the consensus."
The member of the Knesset raised the flag of freedom of expression to justify her words "I take very seriously the decision of the committee that lends a hand to the crushing of freedom of expression inside and outside the Knesset and considers it appropriate to warn of the fateful consequences that this will have both on representatives in the parliament and the public as a whole, including the Arab minority.
Not in the case of the sanctions which were imposed on me both in the form of exclusion, silencing, and denial of my right and duty to participate in Knesset committees and the plenum and to carry out actual control over governmental decisions, since it is clear to me that the goal is not to preserve the honor of the Knesset and its status, but to silence any criticism that is not in line with the opinion of the majority."
And ended by announcing "I will continue to represent my positions and act according to my principles against wars and against harming the civilian population and in favor of a political solution inside and outside the Knesset."
