UN Secretary-General António Guterres ignored the IDF investigation and strongly criticized the killing of Palestinians at the Al-Maamadani Hospital in Gaza, which occurred as a result of the failed rocket launch by the Islamic Jihad.
In a tweet on his Twitter page, Guterres wrote, "I am alarmed by the killing of hundreds of Palestinian civilians in an attack on a hospital in Gaza today, which I strongly condemn." It should be noted that Guterres did not attribute the attack on the hospital to the terrorist organization as the IDF announced.
Guterres: "Immediately release the captives in Gaza"
Guterres, in his statements, argued that "Hamas's attack cannot justify collective punishment." He also called for the immediate and unconditional release of all Israeli captives from the Gaza Strip and, at the same time, demanded that Israel immediately allow the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. "Immediately provide unrestricted access to humanitarian assistance to address the most basic needs of Gaza residents, the overwhelming majority of whom are women and children."
As reported, the IDF conducted an investigation into the attack on the hospital in Gaza and determined that the casualties resulted from a failed launch by the Islamic Jihad. The IDF spokesperson stated, "From a comprehensive investigation involving all operational and intelligence systems, it is clear that the IDF did not target the hospital in Gaza." He added that "the hospital was hit due to a failed launch by the Gaza-based terror organization, the PIJ (Palestinian Islamic Jihad)."
Brigadier General Daniel Hagari added, "Terror organizations in the Gaza Strip indiscriminately fire at Israel, endangering and harming the residents of the Gaza Strip as well. Since the beginning of the conflict, about 450 rockets have been fired by terror organizations, which landed in the Gaza Strip."
After the publication of the IDF's findings, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded: "The whole world must know that the barbaric terrorists in Gaza are the ones who attacked the hospital in Gaza, not the IDF. Those who cruelly murdered our children also murder their children."
