Yesh Atid MK Meirav Ben Ari put up a post on social media describing the heroism of police officers in the beginning of fighting in the south, the first to physically protect the citizens.

According to Ben Ari, of 34 police officers who did security at the Reim rave – according to her, to supplement their income, a shocking fact in itself – just 4 survived.

The post begins: “A few words in honor of the officers. I have been going from funeral to shivah for a few days now, I hear the stories, the heroism of the officers who were the first to save lives. I hear of the Israeli SWAT fighters, Border Guard fighters and so many officers who risked their lives and saved many citizens.”

“Everybody’s Heroes”

Ben Ari expressed her pain for the broad circle of the fallen “Just at the Reim rave, there were 34 police officers (for those who don’t know, police officers providing security for big events do so to supplement their income) at the rave, just 4 survived, 30 were killed. Every police officer killed has a spouse, parents, many children left orphaned, everybody’s heroes.”

She ended with stories of heroism, the stories I hear at every shivah are stories of heroism, every such officer physically protected civilians, saved lives and paid with his life. At every shiva I entered, at every funeral I simply tell the family: Thank you, thank you all, the State of Israel owes you.”
