Sixth day of war in the south: IDF Spokesperson Daniel Hagari discussed the continuation of Operation Swords of Iron this morning (Thursday), addressing the activity of forces in the south and the efforts to locate the missing and captives.
"We are continuing the work of clearing the Gaza Perimeter, there are still encounters. This area remains a closed military area until it is cleared entirely. Just in the last 24 hours, there were 4 encounters, in which IDF soldiers took out 5 terrorists. In the early morning hours, Air Force aircraft took out a Gaza terrorist moving towards the fence. Anyone who comes close to the fence - will be killed. We are closing the breaches with an extensive engineering effort, with dozens of tanks and soldiers along the fence, aircraft in the sky and ships in the sea."
"The IDF is already preparing for the next stage of the war, with the recruitment of people who left everything and enlisted in the effort, so we can set out and meet the goals the political leadership dictate to us." He added that "In the north - we are on peak alert, spread out on the fence both on the Lebanese border and the Syrian border."
On Rear Command's warnings last night: "There was no security event in the north. This is not the result of a cyber event (i.e., an attack) or technological malfunction, but rather a stringency of ours in identifying a warning. This was a false alarm, an incorrect interpretation of commanders when making the decision. We are investigating and studying to limit events of this kind."
