The IDF Spokesperson announced today (Tuesday) that Maj.-Gen. (res.) Nitzan Alon was appointed to handle the captives issue. 50 families of captives have also been informed. According to the army, Manpower Branch personnel are accompanying the families. Earlier, it was reported that the government approved the callup of another 60,000 reservists. Thus far, 300,000 soldiers have presented for service.
In addition, Air Force planes flew IDF soldiers from abroad back to Israel so they can take part in Operation Swords of Iron.
The IDF Spokesperson stated that "As part of the IDF's efforts to concentrate additional forces for continued fighting, 'Karnaf' and 'Shimshon' Air Force planes flew hundreds of IDF soldiers back in the last 24 hours who were present in various countries throughout Europe."
He also said that "the arrival of the planes and the soldiers is coordinated by the Foreign Ministry, the Operations Branch, the Air Force, and the Strategy and Third Circle Branch of the IDF."
