IDF Spokesperson Reveals Number of IDF Dead in Fighting

During the fighting for settlements in the south, 124 soldiers were killed, as of now. 50 families of captives were informed that their loved ones have fallen captive to Hamas.

The IDF Spokesperson said that as of now, 124 soldiers fell in the fighting over the settlements in the south.

He also stated that 50 families were informed that their loved ones were taken captive by Hamas, and that Manpower Branch soldiers are accompanying the families.

In addition, Maj.-Gen. Nitzan Alon, appointed yesterday by Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi to be in charge of handling the captives issue, is leading the efforts to free them.

The government approved the callup of up to 360,000 people today (Tuesday). As of yesterday, over 300,000 have presented. Earlier, it was reported that Air Force planes brought back hundreds of IDF soldiers from abroad so they can take part in the fighting of Operation Swords of Iron.

According to the IDF Spokesperson, "As part of the IDF's efforts to concentrate additional forces for continued fighting, 'Karnaf' and 'Shimshon' Air Force planes flew hundreds of IDF soldiers back in the last 24 hours who were present in various countries throughout Europe."
