Economy and Industry Minister Nir Barkat called for forming a unity government already today, saying that the Israeli people needs a broad government that represents them all.

In a statement he issued, he said: "Israel is at war and this is the time for a national unity government. In this complex hour, we must put disputes aside and unite against an enemy that seeks to destroy us."

"IDF soldiers from all parts of Israeli society are going into battle for the State of Israel, and we must back them with a unity government representing the whole nation. We must form a unity government already today and win the war together."

Religious Zionism party chairman Betzalel Smotrich also joined the calls for forming a national unity government as soon as possible, without coalition negotiations.

According to Smotrich, "Unity and cohesion are the call of the hour to defeat our enemies. Forget teams and forget negotiations. I call on Prime Minister Netanyahu and Benny Gantz to rise to the occasion, meet immediately and agree on forming a national emergency government which will unite the nation, lift the spirit, provide full backing to the IDF and with God's help bring the complete elimination of Hamas and terror organizations in Gaza."
