Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu conveyed in a statement to the media: "Israeli citizens, Hamas forces infiltrated Israel this morning on the eve of a holiday and Shabbat, and they murdered innocent civilians, including children and the elderly. Hamas has initiated a cruel and wicked war. We will prevail, but the price is heavy to bear.

"We will beat them to death, and we will avenge strongly for this black day that they have inflicted on Israel. Every place where Hamas is entrenched and hiding, we will turn into islands of rubble. I say to the residents of Gaza: leave there now, because we will act everywhere and with full force.

"At this time, the soldiers are cleansing the settlements of all terrorists. I send my condolences to the bereaved families whose members were murdered with endless cruelty. I say to Hamas you are responsible for their safety (of the hostages). Israel will come to terms with anyone who harms one hair of their head."

World leaders back Israel

Furthermore, the Prime Minister added: "I have spoken with President Biden and leaders from around the world to ensure Israel's freedom of action in this conflict.

"In conclusion, I now turn to all the citizens of Israel. This situation will take time, and it will be difficult. Challenging days lie ahead, but I can assure you that with the help of God and our forces, we will prevail."
