Defense Minister Yoav Gallant addressed (Saturday) the terrorist attack and issued threats to Hamas: "What was is not what will be. We will change the face of reality in Gaza in the coming years."
According to Galant: "Today, we saw the face of evil. Hamas launched a brutal and indiscriminate attack against the citizens of the State of Israel. It did not distinguish between women and children, between the elderly and adults, and it harmed them all. It will understand very soon that it made a grave mistake and will pay the price. Fifteen years ago, as the Southern Command Commander, I was close to breaking the backbone of Hamas, but I was stopped by the political echelon. This phenomenon will not reoccur."
In conclusion, Galant delivered a threatening message to Hamas: "We will change the face of reality in the Gaza Strip fifty years ahead. What was, is not what will be. We will act with full force. I ask the citizens of Israel to equip themselves with patience, support the IDF, and the security forces."
Earlier, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met with the Leader of the Opposition Yair Lapid and the Chairman of the Machane HaMamlachti Party Benny Gantz, and invited both of them to join a broad emergency government. Gantz stated that he is considering the possibility positively.
