The media in Syria reported today (Thursday) on a drone attack, that took place during a graduation ceremony of a military college, in the district of Homs in the center of the country. According to the reports, there were a large number of dead and wounded.
At this stage, no official number of dead and wounded has been given, but unverified reports claim that there are dozens of wounded and between 7 and 10 dead at the scene. Medical teams that arrived at the scene gave the wounded first medical treatment and then evacuated them to the military hospital in Homs.
It was also reported that the Syrian Minister of Defense, Ali Mahmoud Abbas, was present at the military ceremony in Homs along with a number of senior officers in Assad's army - with some reports claiming that he was injured in the incident. On the other hand, security sources claimed that Abbas participated in the ceremony and left the military college before the attack, which they said took place about 20 minutes after the end of the ceremony, while the students were taking pictures on the spot.
According to the estimates of the Syrian army, this is an attack by elements from among the rebel organizations in the country, or by a terrorist organization such as ISIS. However, at this stage, no organization has claimed responsibility for the attack.
