The IDF spokesman said this morning (Monday) that an alert was activated in the Home Front Command application in an open area in the north of the enclave after a number of rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip toward the sea. In the message, it was clarified that the rockets did not cross into the territory of the State of Israel.
According to the reports, the shooting into the sea was carried out as part of a training exercise for the Al-Quds Brigades, which serve as the military arm of the Islamic Jihad. Throughout the morning, strong explosions were heard in the north of the Gaza Strip, and the residents of the area were informed that it was a training exercise.
As you may recall, at the beginning of the week, Gaza announced the renewal of riots on the border of the Gaza Strip, as a response to the ascension of hundreds of Jews to the Temple Mount on the occasion of Sukkot - which, according to the terrorist organizations, constitute "violations of the agreements at Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem". The decision comes a week after it was decided to reopen the crossings for the entry of workers from the Gaza Strip, after about two weeks of closure following the riots.
Officials in Gaza said that Israel promised a number of benefits to Hamas, including an increase in the number of entry permits for workers from Gaza, the expansion of the fishing area off the coast of the Strip, and the possibility of exporting more goods and importing more equipment. On the other hand, in Israel, they made it clear that the economic measures will only be given in exchange for continued calm.
