A decade after its founding: The Yesh Atid party has announced that it will hold primaries for the party leadership in December 2023. This marks the second conference since January 2022 in which no vote took place, as Yair Lapid was the only candidate to submit candidacy

The Yesh Atid party conference announced today (Monday) that elections for the party's leadership position will take place in December.

According to the announcement issued by the party, members of the Yesh Atid conference received notice that the party's annual conference will convene in December. During the conference, discussions on agenda items will take place, and there will be a vote on the appointment of the party leader.

Additionally, it was stated that conference members who meet all the criteria can submit their candidacy for election according to the regulations until the beginning of November.

The conference published the criteria for applying:

  • Eligible to be a Prime Minister according to the law.
  • Must be a party member for at least three consecutive years before the party leadership elections.
  • Has not been convicted of a crime that carries a penalty, and it has not been decided to prosecute him for a crime that carries a penalty.

It should be noted that party members have stated that this is the second conference of the Yesh Atid party. The first conference took place on January 4, 2022, marking the party's first conference in a decade since its founding. Additionally, they emphasize that in the first conference, there was no vote because, apart from the party leader Lapid, no other candidates were presented.
