Fatal work accident: A 30-year-old laborer was killed today (Wednesday) after being trapped under scaffolding that collapsed at a construction site on Jerusalem Boulevard in Ashdod. MDA medics and paramedics worked to rescue Hapoel and took him out when he was unconscious and without signs of life - and he was pronounced dead on the spot.
Yaakov Mazuz, Reuven Katz and Haim Green, medics from United Hatzalah, said that "unfortunately, we had to pronounce him dead at the scene due to the nature of the severe injuries he suffered. According to his friends, the scaffolding collapsed on him and the fire brigade had to retrieve his body."
Earlier today, another work accident was reported, when a 68-year-old laborer was injured in the head while working on Ofira Street in Ma'ale Adumim and was seriously injured. Jacob Lieberman and Ari Weiss, medics from the United Hatzalah, said that "according to the workers at the scene, he suffered a head injury as a result of falling from a forklift. We gave him first aid at the scene and then he was taken to Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital in Jerusalem."
