The first shipment of COVID-19 vaccines in months has landed at Ben Gurion Airport, the shipment includes about 200 thousand vaccine doses adapted to the newly identified Omicron strains around the world.
After all the COVID-19 restrictions were lifted and the requirement for isolation for the infected was canceled, it appears that the Ministry of Health is preparing for a new wave of the coronavirus. The ministry has reported the first shipment of 200,000 coronavirus vaccines adapted to the new Omicron variants identified by health systems worldwide. This is the largest vaccine shipment in months.
The Ministry of Health intends to recommend that at-risk population groups receive the new and updated vaccine, due to the threat posed by the new subvariants that have emerged alongside the Omicron variant over the past few months.
The first stage of vaccine distribution will begin after the Sukkot holiday. At that time, priority will be given to at-risk groups and individuals with underlying health sensitivities who are considered at risk in relation to the new variants.
