The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan has announced that it is halting the military operation it initiated against Armenia, following Armenia's acceptance of Azerbaijan's demands in several areas.
A few days after initiating a military operation against Armenia in the border region of Nagorno-Karabakh, the Azerbaijani military has announced that it has halted the operation against the neighboring country. This decision comes after Armenia accepted Azerbaijan's territorial demands. The operation was launched by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense following several years of relative peace between the two countries, who fought over the disputed territory just three years ago without a conclusive resolution.
In their statement, the Azerbaijanis defined the operation as a "counter-terrorism attack" in the Nagorno-Karabakh region and demanded that all forces engaged in the area, except Azerbaijani military forces, withdraw completely.
Today (Wednesday), the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced that after contacts were made between the parties through the Russian peacekeeping force stationed in the region, the Armenians agreed to fully vacate the region between the two countries and accepted all of Azerbaijan's demands. Therefore, the operation has been halted for now.
