The date of the local elections is approaching, and in order to participate in it, the various candidates across the country need to submit their candidacy forms - by this Thursday, September 21.
As previously mentioned, the local elections will be held on October 31st, and according to the law, the lists of candidates for the local councils and heads of authorities must be submitted to the election officials from the Ministry of the Interior no later than 40 days before the election date, and the registration days will be held on the coming Wednesday and Thursday at the election managers in each local authority.
In order to be eligible for inclusion in the list of candidates, and to be elected as a local council member, the contestant must be over 21 years of age and registered with the Ministry of the Interior as a resident of that local authority.
Also, each person can be a candidate for elections in only one local authority.
253 municipalities, 7,348,541 voters
The election day for the local authorities will be held as mentioned on October 31, 2023, and this time it will also be a Sabbath day.
The elections will be held in 253 local authorities including 77 municipalities, 123 local councils as well as 53 regional councils throughout the country.
According to the final voter register, the number of those with the right to vote in general was 7,348,541 with the right to vote according to the following division: municipalities and local councils - 6,673,221 with the right to vote, and in regional councils - 675,320 with the right to vote.
In elections to local authorities, the voting age is 17, in contrast to the general elections to the Knesset, in which the age of the voter is 18.
