A new CBS News poll published last night (Monday) shows that former U.S. President Donald Trump edged out the incumbent President Joe Biden in approval ratings by a percentage point, but both rivals are still in a very close race.
According to the poll, if the presidential election were held today, Trump would receive 50% of the votes, compared to Biden's 49%. However, it's important to note that the margin of error for the poll is 2.6 percentage points, which means the difference is within the poll's margin of error.
Respondents in the poll were also asked about the ages of the two leading candidates, in light of the criticism in the United States regarding the candidates' ages and calls for younger politicians to run. 43% of those polled said that only Trump, who is 78 years old, could complete a full term, while only 16% said the same about Biden, who will be 82 at the time of the elections. 12% of respondents said that both of them could complete their second term, and 29% of the respondents said that neither of them would be able to finish their term.
