Gallant denies: "The transfer of weapons was not approved"

Minister Gallant denied the reports about the huge shipment of weapons, that were transferred to the Palestinian Authority and said: "Contrary to the false presentation, the transfer of weapons to the Palestinian Authority was not approved."

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant addressed the reports about the huge transfer of weapons shipment to the Palestinian Authority in coordination with Israel and denied all reports on the subject.

On Gallant's behalf, a blanket denial was given, stating: "Contrary to the false representation emerging from the various reports, since Defense Minister Yoav Gallant took office, the transfer of lethal weapons or armament to the Palestinian Authority has not been approved."

Gallant added: "Any attempt to present things in a different way is false and a sin against the truth."

Also on behalf of the Unit for the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), which according to the reports was responsible for coordinating the transfer, denied what was said: "There is no basis for the various publications on the subject. We will clarify that no weapons were transferred to the Palestinian Authority during the past year."
