Yossi Dagan, the head of the Samaria Regional Council, responded this evening (Thursday) to the shooting attack that occurred on Hawara Road, after being present at the scene of the attack while on his way to an event in Gav HaHar and participated in providing medical treatment to the injured along with medical teams. In his remarks, he criticized the government and called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant to act against terrorism and restore deterrence.

"A severe shooting attack in Hawara, I arrived here literally at the moment of the attack, and both victims are conscious," said Dagan. "There was a great miracle here, both victims are conscious, and they are currently on their way to the hospital."

"I'm standing here, and I say to the Prime Minister, the Defense Minister, and all the ministers: It's your responsibility, it's in your hands. You are responsible for Jews getting shot here repeatedly in the heart of the State of Israel," he added forcefully. "We came here to live, and we won't give up. We demand security, we demand that you restore deterrence."

According to him, "This house that was shot from needs to be demolished. These roadblocks need to come back already. Stop forsaking our security."

"Prime Minister and government ministers – look at us in the eyes. Look at this vehicle; it's a miracle that we're not taking two bodies from here but two Jews on their way to the hospital, injured from gunfire. I demand from you – do something already," he concluded. "The residents of Samaria won't go like sheep to the slaughter. We are building our land, and we expect the government to provide security. We are citizens in our own country; we deserve security."
