The ultra-Orthodox public criticizes Netanyahu: Earlier today (Sunday), the government approved a decision imposing on Jerusalem Affairs and Tradition Minister Meir Porush the task of formulating an action plan to assist and ease the conditions of stay at the land border crossings for Israeli travelers to Uman.
Following the decision, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu stated, "Israeli citizens traveling to Ukraine need to take personal responsibility for their trip at this time. The Almighty does not always protect us, not even on the soil of Europe and Ukraine."
The Shas movement responded sharply to Netanyahu's words, stating, "The Almighty always protects the people of Israel in all the exiles and persecutions. This is the reason that the people of Israel are the only ones who have survived miraculously for thousands of years, while many other strong nations have disappeared."
"Of course, the condition for divine protection is adherence to faith and the observance of the Torah and commandments, as the Jewish people have been doing since becoming a nation."
Arye Erlich, editor of the "Family" magazine, also criticized Netanyahu on his Twitter account. He stated, "Regardless of the trip to Uman, when 'the leader of the faithful camp' utters severe heretical words, all in an official statement from the Prime Minister's Office – the sweet theory of the People of Israel collapses like a house of cards."
"In a place where there is desecration of the name of God and rude and disrespectful speech towards the heavens – honor is not given to Bibi. Impudent and insolent, a coarse spirit. Shame on you, Bibi. You are not worthy of our faith."
In a subsequent tweet, Erlich wrote: "Gantz, your time has come."
