On Wednesday, the Chief Rabbi of Israel and the President of the Chief Rabbinate Council, the 'Rishon Lezion' Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, visited the military rabbinical base in Shura Camp. The visit was led by the Chief Rabbi of the IDF Brigadier General Rabbi Eyal Karim and with the participation of senior members of the Corps.
During the visit, Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef toured the various facilities of the military rabbinate: "The Deer Center" - the National Center for the Treatment of the Fallen, the Treasury of the Torah Books, and the Halacha and Technology Laboratories.
The visit took place as part of a fruitful collaboration between the Chief Rabbinate of Israel and the Rabbinate Corps for many years. The head of the Halacha branch Lt. Col. Rabbi Udi Schwartz summed up the visit by saying: "It is a great privilege for us to host the 'Rishon Lezion' and the Chief Rabbi of Israel. During the visit, we had the privilege of reflecting the many activities of the military rabbinate and at the same time, discussing and clarifying important and principled halachic issues. The connection between the Chief Rabbinate of Israel and the military rabbinate is a solid and deep connection that allows all of us to add to and grow in the Torah and make it great"
