The Legal Reform

Rabbi Yosef: calls on the government and the opposition to compromise

At the beginning of saying 'Selichot', the first of Zion, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef said: "I call from here on the government of Israel and the opposition to make all the compromises that need to be made, the main thing is that there will be peace among the people of Israel"

The First of Zion, the Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef spoke at the Selichot opening event at the Great Synagogue in Jerusalem and addressed the efforts to compromise on the issue of legal reform

"I call from here on the Israeli government and the opposition to make all the compromises that need to be made, the main thing is that there will be peace among the people of Israel," said Rabbi Yosef.

He added: "I'm not allowed to get involved in politics, but peace and unity is not politics."

Last week, Netanyahu's compromise proposal was published, according to which the legal reform would be frozen for a year and a half, but it was rejected by both the opposition and coalition parties.
