Now it's official: The Knesset spokesperson announced this evening (Wednesday) that the visit of Enaam Mayara, the President of the Senate of Morocco, has been postponed due to a medical emergency that led to Mayara's hospitalization in Jordan. The Knesset and the Moroccan Senate have agreed that after the President of the Senate returns to Morocco, the parties will determine a new date for his visit.
According to Knesset's statement, "After a medical examination, the medical team at the hospital decided to hospitalize Mayara for further tests and monitoring. Therefore, his visit to Ramallah, which was planned for tomorrow, has also been canceled. In the afternoon, due to his ongoing medical condition and upon recommendation of the medical team, the decision was made to cancel his visit to the Knesset as well."
"I am sorry that due to a medical emergency, I will not be able to come to the Knesset," said Mayara. "I am aware that many efforts have been invested in preparing for my visit, and I would like to express my appreciation to all those involved. Additionally, when I return to Morocco, my office will coordinate a new date for the visit."
He further added, "The Senate and its members, under my leadership, will continue to strengthen and deepen parliamentary cooperation with the Knesset. This cooperation began with the historic visit of Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana last June. The relationship between the Kingdom of Morocco and the State of Israel is a common interest of both countries and together, we will continue to deepen it."
Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana added, "The relations between the countries are sparking sparks, and the visit of the President of the Moroccan Senate, Mayara, was supposed to be one of the peak moments. However, we are, of course, closely monitoring his medical condition and wishing him a speedy recovery and complete healing."
