The war on crime in the Arab sector has escalated, and today (Wednesday), for the first time openly, it has been reported that the Shin Bet is directly involved in attempts to prevent harm to municipal symbols against the background of attempts to harm candidates for local Arab authorities.
In an ongoing investigation that is still under a publication ban, it has been allowed to disclose only that in a joint operation between the police and the General Security Service, three suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting of the candidate for the mayor of Nazareth about a week ago.
The Shin Bet stated: "The General Security Service will continue to operate, under its purpose and role, in safeguarding the security of the state, the democratic rule of law, and its institutions." The council head was shot together with his brother and nephew.
