Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu responds to the incident in which a flight that was en route to Israel with Israeli passengers was forced to land in Saudi Arabian territory and the passengers were taken care of by local authorities.
"I greatly appreciate the warm treatment by the Saudi authorities towards the Israeli passengers whose plane encountered difficulties and was forced to make an emergency landing in Jeddah. I'm glad everyone is returning home. I highly value the good neighborliness."
The Israelis spent the night in Jeddah
Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs updated regarding the Air Seychelles flight that landed in Saudi Arabia, that the company's replacement plane left the country and is expected to land in Israel at 14:00 (Tuesday).
Following Air Seychelles flight number HM22, which was en route from Seychelles to Israel, experienced a malfunction during the flight last night, the pilots were forced to perform an unplanned landing at an airport in Saudi Arabia. As a result, 128 Israeli citizens landed in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and were required to spend the night and morning hours there.
The passengers spent the night at the hotel located at the airport, and an alternative Air Seychelles aircraft took off from Dubai Airport towards Jeddah Airport.
