Four days ago, Prime Minister Netanyahu convened the secondary committee for issues related to crime in the Arab society and decided that the Shabak (Israel Security Agency) would assist the Israeli police in enforcement. Today (Sunday), at the request of the head of the Shabak, an agreement was reached for a meeting with the heads of the Arab authorities, during which they will be assured that they will receive the funds for addressing crime.

The Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, will not attend the meeting, as he stated in closed discussions that it is not his role.

Minister Ben Gvir on the meeting with the Arab authorities: "It is not my job"

Minister Ben Gvir in closed discussions: "I don't like the initiative of the head of the Shabak. I don't think we need to come to the heads of the Arab authorities like beggars. They should have been the first to understand that this money is strengthening criminal organizations that primarily harm their children and residents. They must establish mechanisms of control and supervision over this money." The minister emphasized at the end of his remarks, "In any case, it is not within my duties as Minister of National Security to commit to transferring funds."

As recalled, last week the Prime Minister convened the committee where a discussion lasting several hours took place regarding enforcement actions against criminal organizations in the Arab society. The discussion focused on how to address them and the necessary tools for maintaining public order and the integrity of the elections.

The meeting took place in light of the increase in violence in the Arab streets

The meeting took place in light of the significant rise in violence in the Arab streets, and what seems like a shift in direction by criminal organizations towards attempting to influence the results of the municipal elections in Arab communities through violence and political assassinations.

Just in recent days, several political figures within the Arab sector have fallen victim to severe violent incidents. Two of them, the CEO of the Tira Municipality and a candidate in the elections, were murdered. Therefore, the Prime Minister decided that there is a need to involve the General Security Service in order to assist the Israel Police in dealing with the threats posed by these organizations and their actions on the municipal elections in Arab communities.
