The struggle against refusal to serve: An IDF spokesperson announced today (Thursday) the suspension of service of an officer with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the reserves, who serves as a combat director at the Navy's headquarters. This comes after he declared that he is not willing to continue serving in the reserves due to the impact of the judicial reform.
The officer's suspension comes after a command discussion with the Commander of the Navy, based on orders approved by the Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi. This is the first time the Chief of General Staff has approved the suspension of service for a soldier who informs about his intention to stop serving.
It is also mentioned that in the coming days, a command discussion will take place with another reservist, during which the continuation of his reserve service will be examined. This is another commander at the Navy headquarters, also holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, who has been summoned for a discussion with the Commander of the Navy.
In the IDF, it was emphasized that both reservists are above the mandatory draft age for reserve service and have volunteered for reserve duty. It was further clarified that the operational tasks of the Navy headquarters are carried out according to the plan and without any changes.
