Ministry of Agriculture: These are the companies that have received customs exemptions

Five major marketing networks in Israel have been granted a customs exemption for importing honey. The goal of the tender: providing affordable honey to the citizens of Israel for the holidays. The outcome: a 60% decrease in the average price of honey in Israel

The Ministry of Agriculture published today (Thursday) the list of winners in the competitive process for the distribution of customs exemptions for the import of honey in consumer packaging up to 1.5 kg. The networks that won the tender are Victory, Rami Levy, Shufersal, Osher Ad, and Yochananof. According to sources in the ministry, the goal of the tender is to reduce the cost of living and provide affordable honey to the general population ahead of the Tishrei holidays.

The price proposed within the framework of the process by the winning companies ranges from 9.9 NIS for half a kilo of honey to 19.9 NIS per kilo, with an average of about 18.6 NIS per kilogram. This represents a decrease of approximately 15% compared to the honey price achieved during a similar period last year! Additionally, this marks a reduction of around 60% from the average honey price (per kilo) in Israel. According to StoreNext data, the average price for honey in Israel in 2023 stands at approximately 45.6 NIS per kilo.

The tender results indicated a decrease of about 60% from the average honey price in Israel, with an average honey price of 18.6 NIS per kilogram. According to the ministry's statement, this represents a reduction of around 15% compared to the honey price achieved during a similar period last year.

It should be noted that as part of the winning process, the networks received a total exemption from customs for a volume of about 500 tons of honey, marketed in various sizes and priced between 9.9 NIS for half a kilogram and 19.9 NIS per kilogram of honey. Furthermore, in the process, the allocation of customs exemptions was granted according to the requested quantity, with a total volume of 495 tons of honey.
