The decision of Minister of Finance, Betzalel Smotrich, regarding the appointment of attorney Sefi Singer as the Chairman of the Securities Authority, was approved by the Appointments Committee. Singer (44) currently serves as a partner in the Companies and Securities Department at the Herzog Fox Ne'eman law firm.
In 2011, he began working as a lawyer in the Ministry of Justice and served there in a wide range of roles in the Consultation and Legislation Department under the then Deputy Attorney General, Attorney Avi Licht. Singer was responsible for the area of insolvency and led in the government and the Knesset the process for the enactment of one of the most significant economic laws in recent years - the new Insolvency Law.
In addition, he was involved in a significant part of the economic reforms carried out during those years, including the regulation of the securitization, the regulation of the state's share in Israel's natural resources (the Shishinski Committee), and the natural gas framework. He also contributed to the regulation of the field of non-bank credit and the committee for examining Israel's debt arrangements.
In 2018, he joined the law firm Herzog Fox & Neeman as a partner in the Corporate and Securities department. In this capacity, he accompanied and advised Israeli and multinational companies in a wide range of areas and complex legal issues related to corporate and securities law. Among other matters, he handled the sale of the controlling stake in Partner Communications Company, the debt arrangements of IDB Group, complex international transactions, cross-border deals, financing the privatization of Haifa Port, margin transactions, securitization transactions and more.
