Earlier this evening, former PM Naftali Bennett, issued a statement directly attacking Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s inner circle, amid the “Qatargate” affair.

“In secrecy, with lies, and manipulation – the closest advisors to the Prime Minister are working for Hamas’s engine. It’s madness,” he wrote.

“Our brothers are fighting the enemy, and Netanyahu’s advisors received money from the country that sustains that enemy.”

Bennett continued:

“There are three things you need to understand and remember when it comes to the Qatar affair, no matter how many spins they try to feed you:

1. Qatar is the main engine of Hamas.

2. The Prime Minister’s advisors worked for them, not for us.

3. And all of this happened during a war in which our children are fighting.”

He elaborated further:

“1. Qatar is the primary engine behind Hamas. It funded Hamas with hundreds of millions of dollars. It granted Hamas leaders—Ismail Haniyeh, Khaled Mashal, and others—refuge and protection in its territory. Qatar knows very well what Hamas has planned for us, and what they are still planning. Qatar owns Al Jazeera, which incites against Israel around the world.”

“2. Qatar paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to Netanyahu’s closest advisors to work for them without anyone knowing. In secrecy, with lies, and manipulation—the Prime Minister’s closest advisors were working for the engine of Hamas. It’s insanity.”

“3. They did this while our soldiers are fighting, dying, and being wounded in Gaza. The best of our people are defending us, while the most corrupt are defending Qatar—the engine of Hamas. Let me say it again so it's clear—while our children, our brothers, are fighting the enemy, Netanyahu’s advisors were getting money from the country that fuels the enemy. It’s that simple. It’s that terrible.”

Bennett served as Prime Minister between June 2021 and June 2022, and previously held the positions of Minister of Defense and Minister of Education.

He is currently leading the polls by a wide margin over the Likud party.

At the same time, he also leads in most polls regarding suitability for the role of Prime Minister of Israel.
