Israeli Delegation Heads to White House for Key Talks on Iran Strategy

Urgent White House talks: Israel and US plan bold strategy to confront Iran's nuclear threat

A high-level Israeli delegation is set to meet with U.S. officials at the White House early next week for strategic talks focused on Iran. The discussions come amid increasing concern over Iran's nuclear ambitions, as President Donald Trump has given Tehran a two-month deadline to negotiate a new nuclear deal, with the threat of military action looming if an agreement is not reached.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his team remain skeptical about the possibility of a new deal, and are seeking to align with the U.S. on potential military responses to Iran’s nuclear activities. The talks will mark the first meeting of the U.S.-Israel Strategic Consultative Group (SCG) since Trump took office, underscoring the significance of the forum in shaping the bilateral relationship and policies concerning Iran's nuclear program.

The Israeli delegation will be led by Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer and National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi. The group will also include officials from the Israeli military, Mossad, Foreign Ministry, Defense Ministry, and Atomic Energy Commission. The U.S. side will be led by National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, with representatives from the State Department, Pentagon, and various intelligence agencies.

According to reports, the primary focus of the discussions will be on Iran’s nuclear program, with both sides assessing the potential for a new deal and the risks posed by Tehran’s continued nuclear development. Additionally, the Israeli delegation is expected to address the ongoing conflict in Gaza, as well as Israel’s border negotiations with Lebanon, which have raised concerns about regional stability.

While the Prime Minister's Office declined to comment on the specifics of the meeting, and the White House has not yet responded to inquiries, the talks are expected to be a crucial moment in U.S.-Israel relations as both countries work to tackle the challenges posed by Iran's nuclear ambitions and other regional security concerns.
